Cleaning the A8
Over 100 more bags from the road that keeps on giving
Today, we launched Larne's bid for the Best Kept Town award with an organized a group litter pick along the A8 and we were thrilled to be joined by the wonderful staff from the Linn Road SPAR. Despite the poor weather conditions, we managed to collect an impressive 103 bags of litter, weighing in at a total of 475kg. But that's not all! We also gathered various other items such as tyres, metal, and debris, which added an additional 46kg to our haul. A special thanks to Alyson for organising the day and to Margaret and Gary who collected all the bags in the Eco Rangers Land Rover, to bring them to a safe collection point.
Throughout the litter pick, we encountered a wide range of items that had been carelessly discarded along the roadside. It was disheartening to see the amount of litter that had accumulated, but it also served as a reminder of the importance of initiatives like these. By working together, we can make a significant impact on the cleanliness and overall appearance of our surroundings.
After a long and productive morning's work, we were delighted to have the opportunity to gather for refreshments and a well-deserved break. Our friends at the SPAR generously provided us with a selection of treats to enjoy, which made the experience even more enjoyable and rewarding.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Linn Road SPAR for their invaluable contribution to our litter pick. Their presence and support made a significant difference, and we are truly grateful for their involvement.
